Thankful Author 2016- Toni V Sweeney writing as Icy Snow Blackstone

On August 22, 1970, I was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla struck broadside by a Ford Fairlane.  I mention the types of cars merely to indicate their sizes in relation to each other.  The car I was in spun 90 feet before stopping.

I was left with a pelvis broken in three places and a crushed hip, and was hospitalized for three months, in which I floated in and out of consciousness assisted by various painkillers and other drugs.

Since I could little more than be raised to a 45-degree angle while in bed, whenever I was awake I was in too much pain to try watching television. Also, I was so nearsighted I couldn’t see the screen anyway…not enough to know what was going on, at last.  I could read, however…and whenever the medication took over, I’d simply drop the book to my chest and snooze, then awaken, reopen the book and pick up where I left off.

I truly think if I hadn’t been loved to read so much, I’d have gone stir-crazy during those three months…as well as the following six months I was home and bedridden also.  Reading got me through some very long and painful periods during my recovery.

Later, when I was on my feet again but finances were so bad I couldn’t afford to buy books, I took to writing my own to have something to read.  48 books later, I’m still writing.

So…I’m thankful for my love of books and where it’s helped me and also where it’s led me.

The Three Moon Novels

This award-winning trilogy (Three Moon Station, In This Kingdom By The Sea, The Finer Gentleman) is set in the future when space travel is a given and other worlds are home to former citizens of Earth and other planets. It tells the story of Sar Trant and Katy Rawls, a couple thrown together by circumstance. Sar is an Arcanian rancher living on the planet Tritomis-2, where technological advancement includes a spaceship in every barn and a laser pistol in every gunbelt, but the cultural development is that of the Old West. Katy is a witness to a crime, with a hit man on her trail, hiding out on a planet as far from Earth as she can get. It’s inevitable that she and Sar meet, but no one, not even they, expected what happened after that.

Three Moon Station (Book 1) was voted #2 in SciFi/Fantasy series for 2013 and 2014 by the Paranormal Romance Guild’s Reviewer’s Choice

In This Kingdom By The Sea (Book 2) was named one of the Top 8 SciFi/Fantasy novels for 2014 by the Paranormal Romance Guild.

All three novels are published by Class Act Books, and are featured on the publisher’s website, on Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. They are available in e-book and print editions.
