THANKFUL AUTHOR BLOG ROUNDUP
Featuring Sydney St. Claire
What I'm thankful for:
This year I’m thankful for family. My mother , who was given
six months to live nearly 12 years ago is still with me and we’ll share another
round of holidays together. I love having her living with us and being able to
spend time each and every day with her. I’m also going to be a grandmother in
January or February and it’s a girl. I’m so happy and thrilled and thankful for
this wonderful little girl who will soon be part of our family. Some of my
happiest memories are of family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I
look forward to sharing more time with my mother and welcoming a new member and
starting new traditions.
Welcome back Sydney, can you tell me three words
that describe yourself starting with A, B, and C?
Amiable
& Adaptive
Bohemian— a person who has
informal and unconventional social habits, especially an artist or writer or
as my mother says, doesn’t give a rat’s tush about what anyone thinks.
Crazy
Cat Lady
What are your three favorite things?
This is tough so let’s just assume family and friends are
a given.
1.
My animals count
as one. I can’t live without my cats and dogs. My cats especially are my
constant companions especially when I’m writing. There are times though when I
could use my desktop for me to work.
2.
Two would have to be music. I love music and there are
times when I need it to ground me. If I were to believe in past lives, I’d have
to say I was both a singer and dancer in a past life because there are certain
types of music that make me want to break out in song and dance like a musical!
Don’t worry. I won’t. If I was a singer,
that was in the past <g> and the
talent did not carry forward
3.
Creating. Let’s just state that creating stories and
worlds are a given so this will be about crafts. Currently I love crochet and
knitting. In the past, I did a lot of cross-stitch—I owned a cross-stitch
store. I also had a framing shop and loved creating frames and mats to
compliment pictures. Crafting is another form of being creative and meets different
needs. Once I write my books and they are published, I never look at them
again. But if I knit a top or crochet a blanket, I can look at it and wear it
and enjoy it over and over.
What’s the one thing you would do if you could be your character for a
day?
Lucy, my heroine in Red & Her Big Bad Dom, loves to dance. Ball room
dancing. If I was Lucy for a day, I’d know how to dance. In my soul, I’m a
dancer but in reality? Nope. So I’d love to dance with a handsome man. Romantic
waltzes, salsas and tangos in cool costumes. Not so sure about the heels but
hey, if I was Lucy, I’d be used to it.
Yep, give me a day as Lucy and I’d dance the day away, and the night.
Will there be more books in your series, or can you tell us about any
previous books?
Once Upon A Dom so far consists of six books. Cinderella
& Prince Dom is the first book and it’s out now. Red & The Big Bad Dom
follows Oct 31st. Snow &
Her Huntsman should see light of day Jan. 2015. Beauty Submits to her Beast,
Rapunzel & Her Dom, and Wendy & Captain Dom all follow. There are at
least six more Fairytale stories planned after this set.
When not writing, what can you be found doing?
I’m a crafter. I like to knit, crochet and sew and even quilt. I also like
to work in the garden. And of course,
there’s just the luxury of vegging in front of the TV watching marathons from
DVD’s. Castle, Blue Bloods, Midsomer Mysteries, Pride & Predjice.
Blurb:
Wealthy computer genius Graham
Winters is in love with a woman who won’t join him for a stingy cup of coffee.
How can he prove he’s nothing like her jerk of an ex if she won’t give him a
chance? Then he spots her at a BDSM club and devises a plan. During the day,
he’s “that damn geek.” At night, he’s the masked Dom known as The Wolf.
When it comes to her love life,
Lucy Sanchez has one rule—no geeks. Not even rich, good looking geeks. She’s
attracted to Graham but rules are rules. Besides, she has her wolf, the
mysterious Dom who makes her blood sing. Then she’s invited to a fairytale
event at Pleasure Manor and this Little Red Riding Hood plans to enjoy every
delicious moment with her big, bad Dom.
Excerpt:
“I’m taking you to dinner tonight. In the city.” He
sat on her desk, which she now found endearing rather than annoying.
She set her purse into an empty cabinet and lifted a
brow. “You’re telling me?”
He shrugged. “If I ask, you’ll say no.”
“I have plans.” With The Wolf.
He tipped her chin up. “Cancel them.” His lips brushed
hers, then he deepened the kiss.
Lucy’s insides clenched at the feel of his warm mouth
against hers and the taste of coffee with a hint of caramel, his favorite kind.
She closed her eyes, her lips moving with his. His tongue dipped into her
mouth, and she moaned, leaning into him.
Then he broke the kiss and walked away.
Lucy gaped at him. Her insides melted, and that
familiar longing zeroed in on her center and pooled between her legs. Damn. She was attracted to her geek. Very attracted. Too bad he wasn’t her
wolf. Now, if Graham were as good as her wolf in bed, she’d have found the
perfect man.
She sighed. Yep, too bad. So what now? Two dates, two
men equaled complications.
Her lips turned downward tightly as she got to work. She
loved her wolf-lover, but their relationship was not completely satisfying or
fulfilling. Not rounded and balanced. Graham, on the other hand, was open. She
knew who he was, shared many common interests, and most of all, Graham didn’t
have any secrets. What she saw was what she got with him. In a way, she
preferred that to the mysterious and secretive.
“All right,” she said.
Graham glanced up, his eyes unfocused. “Huh?”
Realizing three hours had passed, and he was totally
immersed in Geekland, Lucy wadded up a sheet of paper and tossed it at him. “Come
back to earth, Graham. Dinner. Date. You. Me.”
His eyes cleared, and a huge grin lit his entire face.
His blue eyes shone with pleasure. “Great.”
His smile slipped into a frown when she stretched her
arms and back. “You tired? Need to stop?”
“Yeah, need to cancel my plans for tonight and stretch
my legs. Want to walk outside with me?” His grounds were beautiful. Calm and
restful with formal groupings, waterfalls, and a small forest that reminded her
of the woods surrounding Bryce’s mansion, the woods where she and her wolf had
played and strolled. She shook off the memories.
“Give me ten. You can go explore the house if you
want. I forgot to give you the tour.” He grinned. “My bedroom is up the stairs,
straight ahead.”
Lucy had been dying to see the rest of the house, and
yes, that included the man’s bedroom, but she rolled her eyes for good form.
Didn’t want him to know how eager she’d been to see the upstairs. “Okay.
Twisted my arm.”
BIO
Sydney St. Claire is the pseudonym of Susan Edwards,
author of 14 Historical Native American/Western/Paranormal romances and the
author of the popular “White” Series.
Sydney loves writing and sharing stories of love,
happiness and dreams come true with her readers. She credits her mother for her
writing success. Encouraged to read as a
child, she always preferred happy endings which meant romances were her
favorite genre. Sydney takes her readers
into the world of erotica romance where her characters come together in
explosive passion as they solve life’s problems and find true love along with
the best sex our hero and heroine have ever experienced.
Sydney’s office is quite crowded with three dogs at
her feet and five cats to keep her company while she writes. Three cats always
insist on beds on her desk, barely leaving enough room for her monitor and
keyboard. Life gets fun when all five insist on supervising…
When not writing, she enjoys crafts of all sorts
including quilting, sewing, cross-stitch and knitting. She and her husband of
30 + years are avid gardeners. He takes care of the veggies, and Susan is in
charge of the ‘pretties’. Her medicine wheel garden is in a contact state of
war: flowers vs. weeds. Sadly, right now the weeds are wining…
While writing, she listens to a wide variety of music.
Her current favorites are Blackmore’s Night and David Lanz.

I would love to ballroom dance, too. Too bad hubby can't dance.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the release!
Marika/Harlie
Thanks Harlie. Same with my husband. Married 36 years and I've never danced with him!
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo wonderful about your mother!!! My ex-husband was stage 4 and my son has been so upset and worried and accompanied my ex to his treatments. My son just heard good news yesterday, so I'm thankful and hopeful for him. Loved your comments, I'm thankful for my one doggie, don't have but the one, but he's enough! Really could relate to this column. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHebby, I wish your ex-husband all the best. It's not an easy thing to deal with. I figure I'm so lucky with my mom. Only 2 % make it five years with Lung Cancer. I treasure each day I have with her. Hugs to your son as well. Not easy! There are times when I wish I had one dog! Or one cat. Or hey, an office with a locking door.... Thanks for coming by
DeleteThank you for being with us today Sydney.Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteOwned a cross-stitch store? OMG, I'm not sure how much profit would come home if I was ordering all these beautiful kits to sell to others.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your Cinderella & Red,
