Surprise, Surprise !

This has been such an amazing week.

Another school year is over and sadly my fourth and fifth graders are now fifth and sixth graders (each of them proudly finished on A honor roll). Time is passing way too fast and I wish they could just be the babies they once were for a little bit. Instead, daily I’m being plagued by the fleeting glances of impending adulthood that is unbelievably just around the corner. It might be a fleeting glance, a turn of phrase, or simple chore that’s been done without the ever present fussing that has to be done to get something accomplished! It’s enough to make this momma cry!

It’s also Free Week for Love’s Battle. A nerve racking time, but a happy one in which I've reached #2 in the Romance, Time Travel category! Be sure to stop by and pick up your copy if you haven't already- http://bit.ly/LovesBattle

And last, but certainly not least in my amazing week, is the reason for this post.

I wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful group of people I work with, and how deeply thankful I am to work with such supportive and caring people. Every year on the last day of school, we have a tradition of eating a steak lunch- I think it's the one thing everyone looks forward to from the first day on! Afterwards we honor those who are retiring and have made such an impact on not only their students, but their fellow teachers are well. It was when this was over that the real surprise took place.

They had all got together and planned a secret book signing party for me!!!!

I was completely surprised and overwhelmed. Thinking of it now make me want to cry all over again. And I'm not talking pretty cry either. These generous, supportive people took it upon themselves to throw me my very first book signing, complete with cake!

It was truly a day I will never forget. A huge thank you to each and every one of you who had a part in this surprise!

Please enjoy the video below- and note, that I was indeed surprised- as if you couldn't have already guessed by my hair and the complete ugly cry that was going on!!!

  4. You are so lucky to have such a supportive group of people around you. And, don't worry about those kids. It just gets better as they get older. My youngest turns 36 next month.
