This time of year, with Thanksgiving fresh in our minds, it’s easy to remember things for which we are grateful. I have a long list and most of them are little things that mean the world to me. First comes my immediate family. I’m fortunate to live in my hometown with my husband of 33 years. We’re lucky to live near my parents and our son lives only an hour away. We lost our furry family member earlier this year and miss her so much, but are thankful that our new puppy is due to arrive in a matter of days and will be coming home with us in January. I’m also thankful for my extended family and my friends I like to think of as family.
This past year we’ve lost family members and several friends, so having my health and that of my family, is also at the top of my thankful list. Illness and tragedy can impact lives in a matter of moments and it’s not something we take for granted, especially as we age.
I’m thankful for the inspiration I get from nature and travel. I enjoy the simple things in life…a good cup of tea, a bite of chocolate, a nice walk, a text from my son, a visit with a friend. I love visiting beautiful places, watching the leaves turn fabulous colors, seeing the first snowfall, and my first tulip bloom come spring.
As a writer, I’m thankful for the freedom I’ve been afforded to have a second career doing something I truly love. I just finished my ninth and tenth books, a heartwarming Christmas novella, A SEASON FOR HOPE, and the first in my new Glass Beach Cottage Series, BEACH HAVEN. I’m especially grateful for readers like you, who take the time to read my work and overjoyed when readers contact me and tell me what they enjoyed or leave a quick review. It makes my author heart smile! I’m also grateful for all the wonderful authors I’ve met on my writing journey. I’ve made great friends with so many and find the author community to be most welcoming and gracious.
I wish you and yours health and happiness in the coming year…along with lots of new books to read.
