Thankful Author 2018- Liz Flaherty

It hasn’t been the “best of times” that Dickens talked about. The past couple of years have been the most challenging I can ever remember. I do “30 Days of Gratitude” on Facebook and believe me when I say there are days when I ask myself if I could get by with saying, “Today I’m grateful I haven’t yet spilled my coffee.”

Which makes it all the more important, doesn’t it?―to dig deeper and try harder. To laugh more, be kinder, be more generous. To be happy.

And I am, at the end of each day, happy. Some more than others.

But enough to know that this year, I’m thankful to have learned that happiness isn’t static—it doesn’t stay the same. On the days when you think you can never find it again, it will be waiting for you at the end of the tunnel. Scuffed and scarred, maybe, but still there. Losing it or having it snatched away doesn’t mean it’s gone forever.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Harlequin Heartwarming authors are back in Christmas Town this year. My story is The Dark Horse, about a widow and a grounded Black Hawk pilot who find themselves together with a houseful of foster kids and—just maybe—find what they’ve been missing at the same time.
