Thankful Author - Susan Edwards

There is so much in my life I am thankful for including husband and kids and a new grandchild. Around the holidays, I’m always grateful to have my mother still with me. She is a lung cancer survivor—only 2 % survive 5 years and she’s now almost at 13 years! But I think what I’m most grateful for this year is surviving.
I survived the blow to my career when my publisher went out of business (Dorchester). That was difficult as the economy was so bad, other houses were not buying. So I’m very grateful to Wild Rose Press for allowing me into their garden of wonderful Roses. Career blows are always difficult as we are so tied in with what we do personally, that it is hard to separate who we are with what we do sometimes, especially I think writers.
I survived losing my business, a retail shop, in 2008. That was most difficult. It took me many years to realize that I was grieving and had to go through the steps to acceptance. It was also a difficult time for my marriage but I survived. Though there are still things I’m dealing with, I’ve let it go.
In our lives, there are so many things we survive, some big and major like cancer, relationships, family issues, job issues, loss of pets or people in our lives, and of course our own life-issues. And there are the small things, things we deal with daily that aren’t as significant but add up to our being survivors. It might be that nasty commute, a mean review of our books, a thoughtless comment from a friend or family member, a rejection of a book or balancing the dreaded checkbook after paying bills! Even the aches and pains as we get older are check marks in the survival column.
Doesn’t matter if it’s big or small because lots of small issues can wear you down just as much as one major issue. Each hurdle we overcome in our daily lives makes us a survivor.
I am thankful I’m a survivor and that I have wonderful friends and family who’ve made surviving possible

Blurb for Autumn Dreams
Book 2 Seasons of Love, A SpiritWalker Novel

Evil lurks in the shadows, just a dream away….
Night Warrior refuses to fulfill his destiny to become a great shaman. As a Dreamer, he knows better than most that power can easily be misused.
Kangee is a SpiritWalker, a child of the gods. Her mother disappeared during an attack. Now her nights are haunted by dreams of her mother held prisoner by a monster. She turns to the young shaman for help.
Together, Night Warrior and Kangee explore the dream world, searching for answers. They get more than they bargain for when Kangee learns that her mother is trapped with the Father of Evil, a monster believed to be only a myth . They embark on a dangerous quest to save not just her mother, but the world from the evil spirit.
Autumn Dreams is a story of love, passion, courage and acceptance as Kangee and Night Warrior find in each other a strength neither knew they possessed before Autumn Dreams took them into a world filled with beauty and darkness.

Excerpt

With their hands still locked together, Night Warrior held onto Kangee. She leaned back, and her scent, her warmth surrounded him and made him yearn for more. He closed his eyes with a long sigh. Everything he wanted was here, in her. All he wanted at that moment in life was to hold her tight and keep her close to his heart.
He wanted this woman. More than anything. Including regaining his status as a warrior.
The realization shocked him. With eyes open and wide, he tried to pull his hands free and step away, but Kangee turned around, keeping his hands in hers.
Staring into her moon-shadowed eyes, emotion flowed through him and around them. The colors, normally sharp, clear and distinct were now swirls of silvery, glittering mist with the hint of a rainbow lurking deep in her gaze. He felt as though he were falling deep inside her. Had his life depended on it, he could not have broken eye contact with her. All that mattered right now was Kangee and the aching need inside him.
“I cannot resist,” he murmured, lowering his head slowly, giving her a chance to refuse, and hoping she would not.

Bio
Susan resides in California with her husband of thirty + years. She love animals. Cats currently number six as she just rescued a kitten named Luna last fall. She now considers herself to be a crazy cat lady! She also has three dogs. Two adorable Chiweenies named JJ and Abbey and  temporary (ha!) custody of Shasta, her daughter’s six year old, Great Pyrenees mix.
She is also an avid gardener. Through her love of all things Native American, she designed a 26-foot Medicine Wheel Garden. It’s a big project but one that she loves, except when the weeds threaten. Right now, with her crazy, busy schedule, the weeds are winning the war! While writing, she listens to a wide variety of music, including Neil Diamond, Celtic, Native American, New Age, Classical, and mood music (bagpipes and howling wolves drive my family nuts). Her current favorites are Blackmore’s Night and David Lanz.
