Thankful Author 2017- Traci Wooden Carlisle

I am very thankful to have a supportive family.
Both of my parents celebrated their 80th birthdays this year. I know that I am blessed to have both of them still in my life. They are healthy, sometimes healthier than me, and move around the world as they please.
This year my husband, sister, niece and I decided to surprise them with a special trip in December that I can’t give details to because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. It does my heart good to be able to do this for them because they instilled in me wonderful moral values that allowed me to recognize the beauty my husband and friends and great work ethics that gave me the mindset to resign two years ago and begin working for myself.
My husband took a position that took some of the financial burden off of me for a few years so that I could concentrate on growing my businesses without missing a meal. I thank God every morning that I have more choices than I used each day. I have the freedom to give back in many ways when I’m not writing, marketing or creating jewelry. My favorite is visiting family and giving my time to friends in the form of offering personal fitness services and knowledge for little or nothing, giving presents in the form of jewelry or swag on occasion, sitting with friends through Chemo or helping to cater at charity events.

My life is full of opportunities for happiness every day. I am surrounded by love in word and deeds and I’m able to recognize both. For this I am very thankful.

Dr. Atherton Nathan, Terry, never imagined that the pact he made four decades ago would cost him what he treasured most – his family. Now that he has fulfilled his obligations he will do whatever it takes to win them back. That includes his ex-wife Reina.

Can their second chance at love survive past
secrets, lies and a concealed pact?

Dr. Atherton Nathan, Terry, never imagined that the pact he made four decades ago would cost him what he treasured most – his family. Though he survived the slow disintegration of his marriage, he held fast to the hope that he could win back the only woman he ever loved.
His youngest daughter now has a life and love he has always wanted for her and their relationship has healed enough for her to allow him to give her away during her wedding.  He hopes the weeks he will spend in Chandler County to ensure her transition from her life and career in Chicago to Chandlerville before the nuptials will be enough to convince his wife…ex-wife of his love for her and hers for him.
Reina Fellows Nathan can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Her youngest daughter’s life is out of danger and Shauna is carving out her own path towards happiness. All Reina has to do is get through the weeks it will take to help her daughter plan her wedding and avoid her ex-husband. He nearly destroyed her once and despite some of the changes he’s recently made she dare not trust her heart to him.
Each day brings new challenges that work against her resolve to remain unaffected by her ex- husband’s attempts to court her again, but secrets, lies and a long-held pact that comes to light may make it impossible for a true reconciliation.

Traci Wooden-Carlisle began writing poetry and short stories as soon as she was able to form words on paper. She used that as a way to creating worlds, as well as, to communicate with God. Through the early-morning prayer, all night Friday prayer and 3-day shut-ins she started on her journey toward her most desired gift, an intimate relationship with God.
Today, Mrs. Wooden-Carlisle lives in San Diego with her husband, David Carlisle. When she isn’t writing she teaches fitness classes and runs a jewelry and craft business.

  2. Your are indeed blessed to have both your parents, Traci. My father has been gone for thirteen years, and I miss him every day. Yet, I'm enjoying having my mom only five minutes down the road. Wishing you all the best!

  5. Traci, What an absolutely beautiful thought: I am surrounded by love in word and deeds. I believe we tend to forget this in the hustle and bustle (and sometimes craziness) of everyday life. But it's so true! Thanks for the reminder and have a great holiday season.
