The publishing industry is a tough place to make a living.
Writing a manuscript is just the beginning of the process, and the easiest part
of it all. Finding an agent or a reliable publishing house? Marketing your book
to reviewers and readers? That’s where the hard work comes into play.
But writing is also a passion, even if most of us have
“other” jobs to help pay bills. In the past few years, I’ve seen two of my
publishers go out of business and another skirt the legal edge of contract, all
of them squishy about paying their authors.
In the end, I’m grateful that I’ve been able to follow my
passion and fulfill my dreams of being a published author, despite the
rollercoaster of the industry. And I’m also grateful that I was able to find a
“second” job as a technical writer that will help pay for my kids’ college
tuitions. I’m also thankful to have found a new home for my young adult novels
as well as a wonderful and supportive environment at The Wild Rose Press.
My
next release from them is GHOSTS DON’T LIE, available everywhere November 11th.
Onward and upward, ‘cuz it can only get better. Or at least
more interesting.
Jillian Rogers Greene worked hard to
close the doors on the psychic abilities that defined her youth. For years she
pretended to be normal, ignoring the ghosts who whisper to her. When a car
crash sets her on a collision course with the past, ugly secrets about her
family and marriage come to light. She's forced to reevaluate what she thought
she knew...and exactly what the future holds.
Connor Sanderson might be the key to
unlocking that future. The grey-eyed artist knows ghosts aren’t real, but his
attraction to the beautiful psychic makes him question those beliefs. With her
husband plotting to kill her, can Jillian make Connor see the truth before it’s
too late?
